Group Membership

Group Membership Eligibility & Duties

  • Any Buddhist temple, organization, or group in Washington, Oregon, British Columbia, Idaho, Montana, or Alaska is eligible to join the Association.
  • Membership dues are based on a sliding scale of $50 to $200 per year, depending on the size and resources of your organization.
  • Member groups may send representatives to the annual NWDA council meeting each February, nominate and elect directors to the board, and provide vital guidance in steering the Association's projects and programs.
  • Member groups do not bear legal or financial responsibility for running the affairs of NWDA.

Benefits to Member Groups

  • Member group representatives may attend the annual meeting of the council.
  • Member groups may nominate people to serve on the NWDA board of directors.
  • Representatives are entitled to vote for up to half of the NWDA board of directors.
  • Members help set priorities for NWDA's programs and activities.
  • Member groups and their activities become known to the wider Buddhist community.
  • Member groups learn about each other's programs and activities and can share resources.

Benefits to NWDA, to the Buddhist Community and to the Public

  • Member participation makes NWDA a representative association of the Buddhist community.
  • Member input gives NWDA advice and guidance for its programs and activities.
  • NWDA membership promotes communication and cooperation among the diverse elements of the community.
  • NWDA members' resources and capabilities are shared among the Buddhist community.
  • NWDA's support of Buddhist teachings and organizations is improved by member input and participation.
  • The Association promotes the accessibility of the many forms of Buddhism to the public.
  • Buddhist groups become a stronger community to benefit all beings.
