Naming NWDA as a beneficiary in your will is a way to help NWDA support the next generation of Buddhist teachings and community.

Examples of Bequests:

Specific Bequest

I give (the sum of $______) or the following described property:__________to Northwest Dharma Association (NWDA), Seattle, Washington, a nonprofit corporation of the State of Washington. The bequest shall be used to further the purposes of NWDA as the Board of Directors may deem appropriate.

Residuary Bequest

I give all of (or a specific percentage of) the residue and remainder of my estate to Northwest Dharma Association (NWDA), Seattle, Washington, a nonprofit corporation of the State of Washington, to be used to further the purposes of NWDA as the Board of Directors may deem appropriate.

Contingent Bequest

In the event that (name of beneficiary or beneficiaries) do not survive me, I give the residue of my estate to to Northwest Dharma Association (NWDA), Seattle, Washington, a nonprofit corporation of the State of Washington, to be used for its general purposes.

Honorary Gifts

Outright

Current gifts may be made in response to our immediate needs or for an upcoming project. The most tangible financial benefits of establishing an outright gift can include an income tax deduction and possibly capital gains tax avoidance.

By Will

You can make a bequest in your will, stating that either a specific asset, certain dollar amount or percentage of the residue of your estate will pass to us at your death in honor of (or in memory of) your loved one.

Through an Endowment

Honorary endowments, which can be made now or through your will or estate plan, are structured so the investment income, rather than the principal, is used to fund a particular purpose, such as funding a facility, program or annual event. To perpetuate the fund, the principal always remains intact.
